J.P. Garcia

J.P. Garcia is a computer engineer with a number of years of experience software engineering, network design, implementation, and hardening. He holds an ABET accredited bachelors degree in computer science and an ABET accredited masters degree in computer engineering from the University of Louisville Speed School of Engineering. Above the information security training he received at UofL, he was further trained in HIPAA security (Chapter 164 Subpart C) at the SANS Institute (http://www.sans.org) where he authored a paper on risk analysis.

He worked at Raytheon Systems Aircraft Integration Systems in Waco, TX as a software engineer and a test engineer. There, he became an expert on the software process model as he also served on the CMM (now CMM/SEI) certification team. He returned to Louisville to complete his master's degree, where he authored a software package to automate the file transformation of electroencephalographic data for researchers attempting to forecast learning disabilities in infants under the age of six months. Upon completing his degree, J.P. began contracting at a local IT firm called Network Advocates. While at the firm, he served as a network security auditor for a number of businesses including medical practices and financial institutions
